Not only is Matroosberg the highest mountain in the Boland, with the highest 4x4 trail in the Western Cape.  Matroosberg was also the host for the highest wedding, were the wedding couple did not use something like a hot air balloon ect.
On the 1 May 2010 Waldo and Didi de Kock, both from Matroosberg Reserve, got married at sunrise, at the Groothoekkloof.  The bride was a bit nervous about the weather, May is not a good time of the year for taking any risks for a wedding day, but it all turned
out beautifully.

 

  The bride and groom were recorded saying, that is was a dream come true for them, for they both love the mountain so much and that God threw in a special surprise for them by covering the canyon in a cloud and connecting the two mountains...making it one...sounds a lot like a wedding vow! 

 

 

If a potential bridal couple would like to break this record, they can still do that, for this wedding did not take place at the summit, so they can still go 238m higher than Waldo and Didi. Didi said, because they live on the farm they did not want to take that opportunity and was just very happy that they managed to get married at 2011m above sea level, but the opportunity for some other brave bride and groom is still available.
